Apple to launch iPhone 17 development in India
Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst at International Securities, has released a report predicting that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 standard version in the second half of 2025. He said that "new product introduction (NPI) will start in India in the second half of next year, which will be the first time Apple develops a new iPhone on a production line outside of China".
In 2023, about 12 to 14 percent of the world's iPhones will be made in India. Of the iPhone capacity in India, 75 to 80 percent is owned by Foxconn's parent company Hon Hai. If all goes well, India's share of iPhones produced in 2024 will increase to 20 to 25 percent.
Notably, India's Tata Group has acquired Wistron's production lines in India to become an iPhone assembler. This move could strengthen Apple's partnership with India and facilitate future sales of iPhones and other products in the Indian market, which is seen as key to Apple's growth over the next decade.
